9 fixtures that could immediately elevate your kitchen design

Renovating, updating or installing a new kitchen is all about making choices. And picking your sink and tapware may seem like a small decision, but getting these right can have a huge impact on your overall design.

To help you make the right choice, here are nine fixtures that could immediately elevate your kitchen design.

1. Beautiful gooseneck taps

The right tap can have a huge impact on your kitchen design. Abey’s huge range features taps of all shapes and sizes, but goosenecks are a favourite among many designers. For example, the Gareth Ashton Gooseneck is both functional and attractive, with a long lasting stainless finish.

2. Large stainless steel sinks

Stainless steel is one of the most popular materials for use in kitchen sinks with good reason. It’s attractive, tough, and incredibly long lasting. For a utilitarian, modern minimalist look, the Abey Boutique Piazza Plus Large Bowl is one of our favourite sinks.

3. Double sinks for added practicality

Need somewhere to hide dishes? A sink for washing vegetables while you soak a pan in another? You need a double sink. These look similar to single bowl sinks but with the added practicality of an extra, usually smaller bowl. Our favourite is the double version of the above sink, the Abey Boutique Piazza Plus One.

4. Coloured stainless for something special

If you’re trying to achieve a unique look without sacrificing quality and functionality, coloured stainless steel sinks are a great way to go. Abey’s Boutique Lugano range features several colours, from black pearl, to eureka gold and artisan copper.

5. Multi-functional prep stations

To work your new kitchen needs to be functional, so we believe in adding fixtures and fittings that can do more than one thing. One example is the Boutique Slim 900, a super narrow prep station, cleaning and entertainment area.

This sits alongside a regular sink, or wherever makes sense, and functions as a store for frequently used tools – and as an extra sink to make cleaning and prep easier. It can even function as an ice store or esky when entertaining.

6. Bar sinks for smaller kitchens

Got a smaller kitchen? There’s no need to sacrifice design or functionality, you can have them both in a smaller package with a bar sink. We recommend the Abey BS1 Bar Sink in Stainless Steel.

7. Fireclay for a little added elegance

If your kitchen is modern and minimalist, stainless or granite may be the go-to materials. But if you’re after something more elegant and classic, we recommend Fireclay. This heat-hardened material has an attractive gloss, white finish and is handmade in France using premium materials.

8. Classic mixers for a timeless look

If you’re going with Fireclay, you’ll need to choose other fixtures and fittings that suit that elegant, classic look. The Armando Vicario Provincial range is a great option, with quality manufacturing and heritage design that perfectly suit fireclay sinks.

9. Modern granite

If you prefer going with something a little unique for your kitchen design, why not granite? Schock invented the granite sink in Germany over 30 years ago, and they’ve continued to refine it since then.

Their beautiful sinks are stain resistant, heat resistant, incredibly durable, and easy to clean. They also look great (we love the natural ‘concrete’ colour).
