Efficiency & Elegance: The Latest Innovations in Kitchen Taps

Elegant smart tap

Kitchen trends are constantly evolving. Many of the hottest kitchen of trends in Australia come from Europe where large design houses, like GESSI and Armando Vicario, collaborate with industrial designers to set the trends for the coming season. Most of these trends are showcased at the world-renowned Salone Del Mobile fair in Milan where world leading brands our industry exhibit the latest in design trends and technology from countries throughout the world. The latest from their 2022 fair saw plenty of new innovations that we are sure to see in Australia shortly.

Multi-functional Kitchen Mixers

Technology has come a long way in the kitchen. Appliances have always been a focal point but now kitchen tapware technology is at the forefront. At Salone Del Mobile in 2022, GESSI displayed its innovative Vita range. Featuring built-it, digitally operated components, the system provides still and sparking, cold, hot and boiled filtered water. With various levels of customisation, it can save over 24 presets and can be activated through an app or via voice command. Although this technology is not approved in Australia yet, it sets the next standard for what is ahead for the future.

Sensor Kitchen Taps

A Touchless Tap or Sensor Tap is one that doesn’t need the user to touch the tap for the water to activate. Touchless Tapware isn’t a new phenomenon. Commercial settings such as public amenities, workplaces and hotels have been installing them for years. However, the advert of COVID has meant the demand for this technology is now prevalent in private settings as well as commercial. In Abey’s Collection, the Gareth Ashton 5K3-S is the perfect touch-free solution.

Finishes

No longer is chrome and white the go-to finishes for the kitchen. Having finishes that match into the rest of the design décor of a home is now the norm. Each of Abey Australia’s finishes have been developed using state-of-the-art technology processes that result in exceptional surfaced quality and a unique design element. Best of all, our finishes are done as part of the production process which ensures consistency.

Designers are also creating elegant kitchens by using a mixture of metallic finishes for their fixtures and appliances. Abey Australia has an enormous range of kitchen tapware finishes including black, brushed brass, white, copper, gun metal, brushed nickel and bronze. The new Gareth Ashton 6K1 Pull-out Kitchen Mixer Collection has one of the largest finishes available in our range and is a popular choice amongst designers with a modern yet classic design aesthetic.

Kitchen Tapware Knurling Features

One of the major design changes to kitchen tapware over the last three years has been the introduction of knurling into designs. Knurling involves the etching of a pattern into the tapware material during the manufacturing process. The result is a stunning jewellery like aesthetic. GESSI was one of the first companies to introduce knurling into its bathroom collections and this trend has started to move into their kitchen tapware options. The GESSI Officine V Pull Out Kitchen Mixer is one that has set the design trend. With an industrial feel, the knurling on the spout creates an elegant design piece. In the Armando Vicario collection, the URBAND Pull Out is a standout knurl design. Its intricate knurl is scattered smartly throughout creating a show stopping piece that is also available in a variety of finishes.

Sustainability

Ensuring our precious resources are well preserved through the kitchen fittings and fixtures we decide to purchase is also another design consideration for 2023. Our water resources are finite and providing Australians the most water efficient tapware is paramount in our collection. We test our tapware and provide water rating label on each product showing its efficiency. If it doesn’t meet our standard, Abey does not sell it.
